A few words..

With the academic year coming to an end here at Yeovil College it is time for new beginnings. With that in mind it is my pleasure to announce that the Book Club will continue in the next academic year with the similar structure and style:

There will be termly meetings (every 6 weeks instead of 4), anyone is welcome to join (not just College staff and students) and all the books are provided!

We will be finishing up this year's club with the sequel to the fantastic The Cuckoo's Calling..'The Silkworm' at the end of July (date to be confirmed). After that we will be starting up again late September.

All the books we have previously read in the club, people are more than welcome to borrow and write reviews on this fantastic new look blog (with big thanks to Sam at the College for his help with the design) and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter @yc_reading.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the members that have come and gone, and remained with the club, it has been a fantastic experience and i am very honoured to run the club for such a great bunch!

As always, i am happy to help with anything, email me at learningcentre@yeovil.ac.uk or pop by the Yeovil College Learning Centre for more information!

Keep your eyes peeled for the next meeting date..as soon as The Silkworm arrives i will arrange a meet.

The ones that remind you of being five, or fifteen, or your college years or your first love. The books we remember fondly are the ones whose lines we memorise and drop into conversation; whose characters we wish we could be like; the ones whose worlds are those we could almost step into, which strike a chord so deep we feel we’ve always known them and afterwards change our perception slightly of our own world.   Norwegian Wood is one of those books.   It is a bittersweet tale of looking back, of an acutely felt nostalgia for past youth and past loves. From hearing the Beatles song, “Norwegian Wood”, Toru Watanabe is reminded of his first love, Naok...
